#28 – Useless Goodspeech
In the first ever show without Hurley (oh dear), the rest of the gang take over as they discuss some casting news, a new director for the Mockingjay films, and more name insight! I only thought of THG at the Olympics at the closing ceremony, when the olympic fire died down, because there was this firebird (phoenix, I think) above the fire and it was burning, too. That reminded me (and my mother for some weird reason…) of the flaming Mockingjay. Oh and they had Game(s)makers…
Hey Fellow Rebels!
In the last episode you were talking about THG-Olympics comparisons, and I actually found lots of simalarities between THG and the very first Olympics, Held in Greece probably starting in 776 BC. First, the ancient Olympics where dedicated to the Greek Gods, kind of how the Hunger Games are dedicated to the Capitol as entertainment. Second, the games were held to show off the physical Accomplishments of the young people, (Like The Hunger Games) and they were held to encourage unity between the cities of Greece. (Like encouraging unity in the Districts?)
And, about Victors, The winner of the Olympics’ name would be announced when they won, and the would be given a palm branch while the crowds cheered and threw flowers at him. Later he would get a more formal ceremony, where he would stand on an elevated platform in the Temple of Zeus. His name would be announced, and a sacred olive tree wreath would be placed on his head. Like when the Victor of The Hunger Games is given a crown at the Victor’s Ceremony.

I LOVE THE DOCTOR!!! If time wasn’t all “wibbly wobbly timey wimey”, I would rewrite time so David Tennant was still The Doctor. And now, after that mini-Doctor-related-rant, I will talk about THG. I think you’re mispronouncing Johanna’s name. I have a friend with the same name. It’s pronounced Yohanna, like in Spanish.
